Small class sizes

and top notch instructors make this mini-camp a great opportunity to hone your game. The format allows the instructors to tune each session to the strengths and needs of the students. It's almost like one on one instruction from some of the top names in chess. Children and adults are welcome.

In addition to his own accomplishments as a player, GM Ron Henley was World Champion Anatoly Karpov's Chief Trainer for nine of his matches. He is author of numerous books and DVDs, including Win Like Kasparov! and Crushing White: The DZINDZI INDIAN!: An Easy To Learn Chess Opening & Strategy.

GM Ben Finegold is currently Grandmaster in Residence at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis. He is also a frequent commentator on Chess.FM.

GM Melik Khachiyan has been playing and coaching chess professionally since 1990. GM Levon Aronian credits Khachiyan with taking him from a third-category player to International Master. The late World Champion Tigran Petrosian was one of Khachiyan's early coaches and the young Grandmaster who is named for him was one of his students.

Here's what some previous participants had to say:
  • I liked the small groups with instructors of differing backgrounds.
  • One instructor's idea of having students play a game and taking turns commenting on the moves was very instructive.
  • I learned more than I thought I would.
  • I liked almost everything: it was exciting and fun to learn. Thank you to all the coaches.
  • It went too fast.
  • Great stuff, great teachers, nice campers, very fun. Thanks!
