GM Hikaru Nakamura 2007 National Open Champion

Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura finished a clear first to take home the Edmondson Cup and nearly $6,000 in cash. He defeated IM Renier Gonzalez, who had started the last round with the only perfect score. IM Gonzalez had defeated 4 Grandmasters before taking on young Hikaru. His 5 point finish tied him with GM Viktor Kortchnoi, IM Enrico Sevillano, GM Gregory Serper, IM Josh Friedel and GM Andranik Matikozyan for second through seventh. Each won over $1,000. Over 700 players participated in the National Open, and almost 200 more played in various side events.

Sylvia Yang took the trophy in the Susan Polgar World Open for Girls and Christopher Kao took the Boys' trophy. More results are available at the SPF Web Site.
